Permission Error

If you get a "Permission Error" when you try to add or edit a calendar event you need to contact the PlyChurch Webmaster and request permission. This link will send an e-mail to the Webmaster. You will only have to do this once.

The steps to enter a date in the calendar are as follows:

  1. Navigate to the "Calendar On Line" page from the side bar menu.
  2. Bring up the correct month
  3. Click on <New Event>
  4. First go to the bottom of the page and select the appropriate calendar
    1. Plymouth Church for official events for the church. Worship, Bible Study Groups, Avamere, Maundy Thursday, etc
    2. Session - for session and commission meetings
    3. Deacons - for deacons' activities
    4. Youth - for youth activities
    5. Groups - for all other choir, service and fellowship group activities.
(I can create more categories if someone finds a need)
  5. Enter a Title. (make it short, this is what shows up on the day square)
  6. Set the start and end times. Use TBD if there is no particular time.
  7. If it is a repeating event there is a box to do that, but you can still edit each event later to individualize them.
  8. Finally enter the details in the big square at the top.
    1. Here is a good place for the name of the sermon for the worship service, for example.
    2. This could list the liturgy for the worship service
    3. For group events this can include "how to get there" instructions including a Google map with route instructions uploaded and inserted.
    4. It could list ushers, Coffee hour servers, Communion servers, who is bringing treats for Choir, etc.
    5. For a pot luck event for a group it could even list potluck choices and individuals could edit the page and sign up for them
(the possibilities are almost endless, because it is a regular page.)
    6. Finally "Send" the page.
  9. The event itself can be selected from the calendar and re-edited, moved or deleted at any time.
  10. There are three versions on the calendar that are suitable to print out and post on a bulletin board.
    1. "Default" is a calendar page only with the event "Titles" only displayed
    2. "Calendar and Events" is the Calendar page followed by day by day listing of the month's events and times.
    3. "Calendar and Details" is the Calendar page followed by the day by day listing including the contents of each details page.
